Ergonomics-Course and Assessment
Duration: 1 hour
Ergonomic Assessment: 20 minutes

Overview:

Course: This course covers the use of ergonomic principles to recognize, evaluate, and control workplace conditions that cause or contribute to musculoskeletal and nerve disorders. The purpose of ergonomics is to proactively eliminate work-related risk factors that pertain to the job-site and prevent or reduce workplace-acquired Musculo-Skeletal Disorders (MSD). This is done by identifying, correcting and eliminating the risk factors through information distribution, education and training.

Ergonomic Assessment: If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort while working at your computer workstation or while performing any other job function that requires lifting and/or carrying heavy objects, pushing or pulling a heavy load you may need an ergonomic assessment. An assessment usually consists of a discussion period where some basic questions will be asked about how much time is spent performing the potentially problematic job functions and what pain or discomfort is associated with those tasks. A hand’s on ergonomic assessment is conducted afterward at the work area. Finally, an evaluation report will be created at the end of the evaluation and will present recommendations to reduce any of the risk factors that may be contributing to your discomfort.
